Walking and Biking the Erwin Linear Trail.
We drove this 15 minutes path many times from Flag Pond to Erwin Tennessee to walk the family-friendly Erwin Linear Trail that runs parallel to I-26 along the western edge of the City of Erwin in Unicoi County. This paved trail passing creeks, ponds and the Nolichucky River. We take the Erwin/Jonesborough Exit 37 (TN-Route 81/107) and park on the north side of McDonald's Restaurant but it can be accessed from any of the three Interstate 26 exits in Erwin Tennessee.
We like the walker friendly trail on the north from McDonald's that runs a mile and half or so alongside streams and two beautiful natural ponds and through the woods and residential areas. We walked altogether about 3 miles from McDonald to the end of the trail and back with in an hour and we are seniors and we get McDonalds "senior" coffee every time we go on the trail.
By the time we'd had breakfast it was after 10.30 am we decided to walk the southern section another day. We been on the southern end before, from McDonald's followed Erwin Linear Trail south into the woods, alongside the Martin's Creek this section of the path is well lit at night and the trails go through some wetlands and there are many parking points along the trail . You’ll find two different gravel parking areas on the right side of McDonald's on Willow Park Road giving access to the trail.
